Beethoven - Piano Sonata no. 14 by Peter Joosten (complete)
on: December 31, 2012, 06:22:32 AM
Hello there, I started practicing this masterpiece a few weeks ago, I started with the 3rd movement because it's the most challenging and IMHO also the most beautiful.
Still have to record movements I and II but all in due time, it will take me another week or so to memorise them, which is IMHO a necessity before recording anything.
For practice I used the Editio Music Budapest-edition, which, amongst other things, contains additional pedal markings and in some places a slightly unusual fingering (so took mine from the Peters edition from IMSLP...). The recording was made on a Yamaha CLP-430, and the audio was recorded through my M-Audio Delta 192 soundcard using Cubase. What you hear is 100% live without any editing afterwards, except normalising it and converting the WAV to mp3.
Even though I certainly have a lot more obstacles to overcome, I am quite happy with it because I just came back from an 8 year hiatus from playing a little under a year ago. My playing is far from perfect yet I think it's decent enough to start looking for some feedback. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated, it will only help me to identify my weaknesses so I can improve my performance.
For those among you who prefer a Soundcloud-link instead of the mp3 attachment, it's in the link below;

And of course, before I forget, a happy new year to everyone!
