Dear collective wisdom,

I have a student who wants to obtain the sheet music to a piece that she has heard so that she can learn it.  She played the first few measures for me, and I could not identify it.  The first measure or two is almost identical to the Mozart Piano Sontata in C, K545, Mvt. 1, except that the C E G melody progresses more slowly above the Alberti Bass (in half notes, I think), and then the G is repeated in eighth notes.  Any ideas about the composer of this piece?

Thanks,
Robert Kelley

I actually remember thinking that about one piece, let me go check it.

Although that description can fit perfectly with a lot of more pieces too.

Found it! Kuhlau Sonatina op.20 no.1

Sheet music: https://imslp.org/wiki/3_Sonatinas,_Op.20_%28Kuhlau,_Friedrich%29

There are three, but the one you want is the first one.
