If you create an alternate timeline, then you erase the one that used to exist. If I went back in time and (just simply for hypothetical reasons) accidentally killed your mother before you were born - it's impossible to state that you existed in a timeline, because once I had accidentally killed your mother, then I have erased the possibility of you ever being able to exist - thus, you can no longer exist and in no timeline can you exist because there is only one timeline - the one we are all living in.

Sorry, but you can't win this thread... NOR this argument. Plus, I'm pretty sure that most time travelling movies have completely ignored the laws of physics in monumental ways.
