Other Aspects of piano playing
on: November 05, 2004, 07:54:17 AM
Are there any threads on the other aspects of piano playing like
Ear training
Theory
Accompaniment ... etc
I imagine the number of threads must be very low. why ?
Are they less important ?
Are they more easy ?
Are they too tough to be explained through the net

I would think that ear training would be difficult to do via the internet, but maybe I just say that because my speakers haven't worked for ages, and I haven't gotten around to buying new ones! lol Regarding music theory on the net, try these:
---
https://www.murraystate.edu/qacd/cfac/music/MUS109e/intro/chapter_index.htm
That site covers Musical Symbols,Notes & Rest Values,Rhythm,Meter Signatures, Intervals, Modes, Major Scales, Minor Scales, Key Signatures, & Triads

https://www.musictheory.net/
Great site!

Another great site!!
Hopefully, this should steer you in the right direction. If you need more, post again. Good luck!

One thing you can do is write a simple programme to play random ear training sequences of intervals and chords for you, keep score of how many you get right and so on. This has the advantage that you can tailor it to suit your own strengths and weaknesses. I did this for a while until the novelty wore off. It only takes a few lines of code and it's surprising how quickly you improve.
