Lee Luvisi: The YouTube Uploading Project
on: August 23, 2013, 04:12:18 AM
Lee Luvisi was truly a great pianist. Many that lived in or near Louisville, New York, or Philidelphia, during the 60's-80's would most definitely have known him and give him only the greatest admiration. He was especially notable for his performances of Beethoven.
I've had the incredible honor to get to know him in Louisville, first by attending his recitals (yes, he still plays a couple recitals a year! and even learns new rep!), then by turning pages for him, and by finally having my teacher connect with me. My teacher is close friends with him and urged him to share private recordings from his vast amount of piano recitals to YouTube. Now that he is retired and living a quiet life in Louisville, he would like to "leave his handprint" in the musical world someway. I met with him, and I told him how I could make this possible, by ripping CD's to my computer and uploading them to YouTube.
Here are the first two I uploaded (note that the first was uploaded long ago; it was unlisted on YouTube for the majority of the time):
Beethoven Sonatas Op. 109, 110, and 111:
Beethoven Fantasy Op. 78, Sonata in F-sharp Major, Op. 78, Diabelli Variations, Op. 120:
I will share at least eight more, if not more. I hope you enjoy these performances; they are quite masterful!

Just listened to his first movement of the Beethoven 109. I'll definitely be listening to the rest!! Just wonderful. My weekend listening taken care of.
I confess to not having heard of him before. I am very pleased to have rectified that.
Many thanks for bringing him to our attention. I hope you go for the "if not more" option.

A Louisville legend. I would have seen him more often if Kentucky Center box office didn't have rules against selling tickets for cash to people who refuse to identify themselves.
No opera for me this afternoon, I'm going to listen to some of this on my new to me used video playing computer.
Thanks for doing all this.

Glad you appreciate them.
He still plays recitals at the university about twice a year. I've turned pages for him the last couple times.

Bump: found one more I needed to do!
Scarlatti: Sonatas in F-sharp Major K. 318 and 319
Schumann: Davidsbundlertanze
Frank Martin: Nos. 1, 3, and 7 from Preludes for Piano
Prokofiev: Sonata No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 14
Also, there will be a few more coming up in the next month or so. More Beethoven, Mozart, and some Haydn, probably.
