Technique of Byrd, Frescobaldi and other early keyboard players
on: September 04, 2013, 08:28:22 PM
Hello, I read in CPE Bach's Keyboard treatise the amazing fact that early keyboard players didn't (or rarely) used the thumb in their fingering. Is this true outside Germany?
Does that mean William Byrd, Frescobaldi, etc, played all their keyboard creations just with their eight fingers? Seems incredible to me.
Just curious. Thanks
Minona.
