I just don't know what to do...
on: September 26, 2013, 08:18:56 PM
uhh.... how to start....

well, i'm a 16 y.o. guy who plays the piano and sings.... well, the problem is, i really don't know what to do in the future... and i change my mind almost every day.

i once thought that i will start making music for really exotic and "Way-out-of-the-mainstream-music-industry" type of instruments, like the traditional chinese/indian instruments, because i think that what people, especially young people hear these days, is guitar, drums, piano, and violin (i'm gonna leave singing out of this list, cause it's just so diverse.) and well, classical music fans (about 10% or less of the population nowadays...) are familiar with the woodwinds, brass instruments, and others too. but there are hundreds more instruments that most people have probably never heard... but then, it would be immensely difficult to gather an orchestra of "exotic musicians"...

and my other thought is to put a band together after i finish school, and be the lead singer/pianist, just like Freddie Mercury was in Queen... and find a drummer, bassist and a guitarist (sorry, don't know if they actually call them "guitarists" in english.). but there are probably even more problems with that idea...

so i hope you get it, i really don't know what to do.
i have been playing classical piano for 11 years, soon 12, and i'm SO TIRED OF IT ALREADY. i want to do something else, but..what?? how??
any advice is welcome...

It sounds to me like you need to take an extended break from playing piano and just relax.    Don't come back to it until you really want to do it.   If you have been playing as long as you say, you must be very good.   I would not just throw that away but you may need a break just to appreciate what you have achieved.   Then start fresh with a little better attitude.

One word of advice. Avoid the jump suits. It's not a good look. Really, it's not.

Do you ever play anything you enjoy, or do you just do what's assigned (or said to be difficult or a good thing to do)?
