Mozart "German Dance - The Sleighride"
on: November 05, 2013, 11:32:22 AM
Hi.

This is a link to my daughter's first Youtube video playing the piano, recorded poorly by me on a tablet  :)

She'd love to read people's opinions of this piece.  We bought The Pianist magazine which came with a CD and accompanying sheet music and she loved this piece, so taught herself to play it a few days later.  She's always looking to learn something new and is developing her playing skills all the time, so critique/suggestions or comments would be appreciated!  :)

Thanks!

Shaz

Good work!

I don't like how her feet are hanging freely in mid-air!

Until I was tall enough for my feet to sit flat on the floor, I used a raised wooden box so that my feet could sit still and support my entire body.

The LH is played much too loudly and the RH is slightly too quiet!

I am also confused as to why she begins to laugh while playing the piece.

Hi awesome.

Thanks for the comments :-)  Her teacher stopped using a foot stool as soon as she was pedaling most pieces, though I agree it's a stance she needs to manage until she grows.

She was laughing due to nerves of her first upload, it took four attempts to get this! I'm very aware of her she and that there are child like attributes that eventually she'll grow out of, so I wasn't going to write this video off.

We'll upload another video of the same piece now she's had some time to practice it and some guidance from her teacher, hopefully it's improved :-)
