Nocturne Op. 9 N.2
on: February 05, 2014, 05:43:15 AM
I started playing the piano 1 1/2 years ago, self thought, so i know this version is atrocious, Recording is pretty lame to, is makes the treble line soud too high.
But anyway, i would like some feedback, some direction of what i should be doing here. Sucks having no teacher, but i plan starting class this years. Im 23, but i think its never to late to take classes.
Any advices, i would very much appreciate, Thank you all for you attention.

Hi, very impressed that you self taught yourself . when you are playing for 1,5 years , Chopin's nocturnes are not really the peaces to learn on. What did you play before this?
I had a quick look and I don't know this nocturne that well, never played it , only heard it, as far as I can see, it should sound a lot lighter, ( like chocolate filled with air bubbles
especially the lh. Your fingers curl up (undue tention) and other things going on, habits which would be hard to break I am afraid. In general, it sounded a lot better than I feared
. i would say you really need to play easier things very well before moving on to pieces like that. I can see you like this nocturne though. You have the abilities to play piano and you definitely should keep playing. There are exercises you can you to develop fingers and if you do them in a correct way they will help. Others who know more about it all will hopefully comment too. Tonya

The left hand sounds pretty weird. Dunno if it's the recording, but try to voice it a little bit. The melody should be played louder than the bass notes.
Also, your fiingers are curled up. Try to work on streching them out.
Ornaments are looking ok. The last one sounded a bit different, try to practice that a bit more.
The cadence should be played pp.
Don't get me wrong at all. It's very good considering you're self taught. But I'm sure you can do better than that.
