Hi pianoplayer51,

I just responded to your other post about why people don't answer posts. I am not an experienced blogger. Did I spell that right? Honestly, I'm not even sure what a blog is. I will click on your link and see what I find.

Be right back, Joe.

Hi pianoplayer51,

I'm back. I'm not sure what I'm looking at exactly. Are you blooger48? Do I have to Log in to see more?

I only saw two things:

1) A Pianists touch
2) The beauty of music

The, "To be continued" looks interesting. I left a comment there. It is awaiting, "moderation".

Good Luck with your Blog, Joe.

Hi pianoplayer -
I think your blog is great !

Why don't you keep updating this threead everytime you make a blog post.

Also different timezones so ppl answer your posts later ! Just read this thread now!

Haha and don't take the internet too personally - yes it's rude when ppl don't respond to threads - but I assure you in real life these ppl would be more attentive !
Hehe .. All the best !

Thanks.    No you do not need to log in.   There is no more at the moment.    The 'To be continued' is because I have more to write on Pianists touch later.

I think a pianist's touch is critical - and your blog has been very thought provoking for me on this point.

So please do keep blogging !!

Thank you and I am glad my work has been interesting to some.   What I want though is for people to put comments on the site itself in the comments section.   I guess as I only have one post up and a bit of a second post which is to be finished in due course when I have more to say on the topic of Pianists Touch.

Now, is blogging like facebook?   If you want to have something to say why not simply say it on faccebook.... what is the point of doing a seperate blog?    That is a million dollar question.  Anyoe care to answer?   of course I can look the answer on google but hey ho.    My blog is about music and facebook is for anything... maybe thats why and I think blogs are more personal... You can be tagged on facebook (if you put personal pics up).   I as the admin of my blog controls what goes on it and if someone makes a comment then I accept or reject it before it goes on.   With facebook, it simply goes on and you have no contol.

Thanks for anyone who looked at my blog, but I have asked the administration to remove it as it would seem that people are not interested in it or making any comments about it, good or bad.  I am extremely disappointed and upset that with the numbers of people on this site, only one or two have commented and I did spend and awful lot of time trying to get it going.   I know I only have one post but thats not the point.  The point is, I tried hard to make it look pretty etc and find things to put in it that may be of interest to others perhaps here but it is going to (hopefully) be removed today

I will try and promote it elsewhere.

Regards

No, now you are childish. I looked at the blog and no, there really was not much there (yet). What did you expect - 2000 visitors rushing there and flooding it, and this forum, with comments about ... the DESIGN? Design is nothing when there is nothing under the surface. i don't say it does not matter at all, but still it comes in second hand.

What kind of blogs would you hang on yourself, which blogs do you keep as favourites, and WHY do you like them? Because of their design, or because of the contents?

I suggest you keep on working with your blog, take care of it, make it a place you love yourself. And let the visitors come, or not come, without making such a fuss about it. There are millions of blogs in this world. Good quality will win in the long run, but it may take some time.

because of the contents not the design, but if you have an eye catching design then it will attract attention because people with think that looks nice, I wonder what that is about.  BUT, I did put something in it which I thought would warrant some replies.  Even if some people put that they like or dislike Brahms and the fact that I said Brahms 4 is my favourite then some people may have written back and said yes that is nice but I prefer such and such a symphony.  It doesnt matter how little is on it.. what matters that what is in it makes people respond and I do not think it is childish at all.   I think what I said on it in my one and only post was quite thought provoking.

A blog is not something that generates instant interest. It takes time to develop. You seem unduly impatient.

It takes time to build that, even for a good blog.  First, people have to find it, then they have to read something - they probably won't comment (trolls excepted) - then they have to get into the habit of looking at it occasionally, then more often, and eventually some of them start to get involved.

It takes time.

Yes thanks and I will be a bit more patient.    As well as here, the only others I will send the link to my blog to are my piano teacher and others I know who play an instrument or who go to music concerts.   As I update the blog, I will spread the word and so people can look if they like  :)

Probably - it'll look more up to date.

You probably should work on posts offline and only add them when they're finished.  People won't keep reading what they think they've already read.

What is this now, a blog or a forum.
On miscellaneous there is someone posting long topics about her life and music, but in threads.
Can this be done somewhere else ?

No the moderator has allowed it so my blog is staying.   I put  it here because I do not have anywhere else to put it online and I want to post it where  it will be at least looked at.   My friends are not musical so would have no interest in looking at my blog, but there ARE folk here who play the piano so that is why  I put it on here.

Hi

It takes quite a while to get a website (blog) going so keep at it!  If you add lots of content and plenty of tags, the search engines will pick up your posts and you will find people begin to visit, especially if you have interesting content.

I would give your blog at least six months to develop interest across the web - you won't need to rely on this site to promote it.  As long as you add interesting content and tags, search engines will pick you up and people will begin visiting.

The comments sections of posts can be really annoying to many bloggers because they tend to attract lots of spam.  You will need to moderate your comments.  Surprisingly few people tend to use the comments sections in blogs so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

If you put a visitor counter on your site, or a who's online plug in,  you will be able to see how many people your site attracts but give it a good few months to a year to become known.  Popular content is paramount so you could put some interesting videos off youtube or topics which is likely to attract visitors.

Don't get disheartened if your blog doesn't take off too quickly.  These things take time to generate interest.

Good luck!

Thanks.   However, my blog is mainly about my thoughts so I want to make it personal. The aim of it is like a kind of online diary of thoughts about things I have seen and heard of a musical nature.  I have only posted three things on it so far and that is ok. I do not want to rush and put lots of things on it simply to get visitors.  That is not what I am doing it for.   I am simply wanting to let a handful of people I know who play instruments know what makes me tick musically.   I thought it would be nice to write it all down and share it with a few people so I have emailed the link to one or two people I know who would be interested in it and then thought it would be nice to link it on a piano site.

When you hear professional pianists give interviews about why they play what  they play and what motivates them to do what they do and what composers they particularly like to hear/play, it is interesting, so I thought I would give people who know me or perhaps dont know me a little insight of the same and they can know more about  what makes me tick... what draws me to the    piano and what kind of music I like and what kind of impression the music has on me. :)
