Did you know?
1. At the age of six Liszt received piano lessons from his father, who was a Hungarian, occupying an official position on the estates of Prince Esterhazy. His mother was of Austrian birth.
2. As a boy, Liszt went to Vienna accompanied by his father, where he studied the piano with Carl Czerny and composition with Salieri.
3. In’ 1823 Liszt went to Paris, hoping to secure admission to the Conservatory but Cherubini refused it because of his foreign origin, even though Cherubini himself was a foreigner.
