I need to know what the butt dogs this is
on: May 14, 2014, 02:56:37 AM
So first of all, I am almost 100 percent positive this is a gregorian chant I just have no idea by who or what it is. I arranged it around the melody and idk here's the music. I've been obsessed with the theme ever since someone I knew used it in a composition.

For the first half.  The second half is Cage for sure.  If not, it's plagiarism.

Better recording of it...

About 3:30 in, unless it's hidden somewhere else in there.

(There's no twerking in this video.  In case anyone was wondering.)

Or there's always the original...

The piece has received quite a lot of interpretation and rework by various composers over the years. It is, of course, part of a standard Requiem but has provided inspiration elsewhere too.

Alkan uses it as part of his La Mort from his Op 15 Trois Morceaux dans le genre Pathetique.

The most extensive treatment of it is probably Sorabji's Sequentia Cyclica Super Dies Irae.

It's the Gregorian Chant Dies Irae. Thanks for the other arrangements though!
