Flute Embouchure with MY TEETH?
on: August 25, 2014, 07:29:06 PM
;D Hi im new to this site and I wanted to ask about this embouchure...

So I was experimenting with my flute with different embouchures and I found this really cool one..

If you want to try this for yourself, take your flute out and see!

Instead of using your upper lip, use the top of your teeth!!

pretend you are biting your lip with your top teeth, lift up your upper lip and blow!

I just wanted to know if it worked out for you and if you think its actually BETTER than a regular embouchure? ;D

1) This is not flutestreet.com, it is pianostreet.com.

2) I was trying out piano embouchure. try putting your upper lip on the black keys and biting the white keys with your teeth. :)

3) Sorry if this offended anyone.  :-\ Sadly, I don't play the flute (but would love to), but if anyone here does...PLEASE ANSWER.
Pathetique - Beethoven

I am going to get my flute repaired and start again, but I am not sure I quite got what I am supposed to do...? Using top of my teeth? Either I don't have enough imagination or just don't get it...

I play the flute as well, Outin. It was the instrument I learnt back when I was at school, I played it for about 20 years then started playing the piano. Now they just sit in their cases.

I feel it would be good for my piano playing to play something else as well (just in the side though).

I know what you are saying, I get back into it every now and then, sometimes I like to record myself playing piano and then the flute on top.

Interesting, so that would make it close to a single reed embouchure.   Teeth would then become an airflow modifier, correct?  I'd think a lot would depend on the shaping of your front teeth, as you can't really change them in order to modify the airflow.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
