Converting sound files to music notation
on: August 29, 2015, 10:35:26 AM
I heard that the famous song "Ferry cross the mersey" was "written" by Gerry Marsden in 1964-ish getting the tune in his head and singing it over the telephone to his mother who simultaneously recorded it on a cassette tape.
I guess today, 50 years on, his mother would have been able to record the phone call into appropriate software which would have written the music score at the same time!!
What is the best available software for doing this? I looked into this about 10 years ago and there were several pieces of software available that didn't quite do the job but I would have thought that 10 years on there may now be something that does the job, even if maybe you have to start from say an mp3 file.
I hope this is in the correct section for the topic subject. I think it is the nearest but stand to be corrected.
