A 'Rach 2' question
on: September 19, 2015, 05:03:56 AM
Hullo once more,  ;)

I've come across piano solo arrangements of the 3rd (and even the 1st!) movement of Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto, but none of the 'Adagio sostenuto' movement.

Does anybody know if there's such a thing out there? I mean, an advanced transcription, not a paraphrase or fantasy, nor a simplified version of it, such as the one that can be found at IMSLP.
Yes, I've already looked for it myself, but so far no luck... :(

Cheers!
M.W.

I think thalbergmad might have one, besides, there is the Garry Lloyd transcription.

Well, I have no idea whether Thal has got such a thing, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me, the old chap has got so many scores!

I'd never heard of that Garry Lloyd transcription before; would you be so kind as to tell me a little more about it? I just looked for it but the search engine came up with nothing.
Cheers.

M.W.

I don't know how easy it is to print out a score from a midi (if it's possible at all), but here are Rach 2 transcription midis by Gary D. Lloyd, Gary Goldberg, and Robert Finley (2nd movement only):

And this old thread, which may not be too helpful:

More from Gary Lloyd:

Hi M.W,

By any chance you would have copies of those solo piano movements I would greatly appreciate you sending me a copy at x_feng@live.com. I have searched for what feels like an eternity!

Regards, David
