Rachmaninoff Op. 39 No. 5
on: September 27, 2015, 05:15:20 AM
This has been a work in progress for a long time, and still has a ton more work to do. Regardless, I decided to make a recording today. Feedback is welcome, but please try to find at least one thing positive to say
- I am an amateur, piano is strictly a hobby for me at this time.
I got a dedicated audio recorder recently - a Tascam DR-40. Nothing too fancy, but it sounds a lot better than my camcorder's audio in my opinion. It captures dynamics well, and shows that I need to focus more on dynamic range in this piece.

Hi pianiststrongbad!
I really enjoyed hearing your Rachmaninoff 39/5. I was very impressed by your marvelous playing throughout. This music requires a big technique which you possess. Thanks for sharing this beautiful etude here.
I recall your listening to some of my Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Ravel pieces back around 2006. How time has flown! During the last few years I've shifted my focus completely to the Russian late romantics, especially those who are mostly obscure, unknown, or forgotten. I'm having a wonderful time learning and recording some of that repertoire.
Glad to hear that you have a new Tascam recorder. Coincidentally, I too have one, the Roland-44. So far I'm very pleased with it.
Welcome back!

Thanks for the feedback David! I'm glad you enjoyed the recording.
I'm glad to hear you are working on lesser-known literature. I think there are some real gems in the late Romantic Era which deserve more attention. I've also spent some time on the lesser known Russian late romantics these past few years.
