Hi everyone,

Here's another recording I made for college pre-screening. Unfortunately I was extremely tired the day I recorded all of this so there are a couple of missed notes in this recording. I didn't do a second take, as I knew my playing would just start to disintegrate. I think I did well though, so I hope you enjoy the recording even though there's a missed note and a ghost note in there ;). Also, I would rather undersell my playing slightly in prescreening and blow them away in my live audition than vice versa haha. Anyway, enough with my rant. Please enjoy!

For someone who started 3-4 years ago, this is really GOOD.

The idea is to make sure you will get an invitation for a live audition and you should strive to blow them away now with your application dvd. The dvd is your first and only chance to impress them of your skills and your soul. So if you feel the prescreening has mistakes, I would strongly suggest you correct them and send them a dvd that is your best.  You will run the risk of not being invited for a live audition by sending them an "imperfect" dvd.  Good luck.  btw, the jurors are generally stoic but their depth in music knowledge and experience is as deep as the Marianas trench ... I doubt whether they can be blown away! ;D

There are a couple of slight (and I mean SLIGHT) mistakes in a couple of my prescreening recordings. I don't think I'll get denied a live audition based on a couple of missed notes. If the faculty doesn't see how hard I've been working the past few years, I'll be okay with that and just go to another school. I have internal peace about my situation. Not 100% of my hope relies on getting into Eastman haha.

Wow..  the angle of your neck, what does your teacher say?   I am torn though...  I have only ever seen one other pianist ever who played with almost that exact neck angle--your mannerisms and the way your face shows such expression..  It's really kind of spooky... even your sound...

he was, in the opinion of many, the greatest jazz pianist who ever lived.   His name was Bill Evans.  I searched through a few pages of video thumbnails before I found a picture that showed this.. and wouldn't you know it... the recording--is a tune called Peri's Scope it was the first Bill Evans tune I ever learned.

given my odd dream the other night...   please check this guy out.   There are tons of videos of him performing live..

in spite of this...  there seems to be a lot of tension in your neck..  I love your playing AJ--but I have bad neck and back problems from poor posture at the piano.   Please don't ignore the pain if you feel it in your back, neck, elbows, wrists or shoulders or if you start to get that tingly feeling.

Nice! I liked it very much.
$50 per hour includin recording? That is good price anyways. I have been looking for possibilities to practice an acoustic piano or grand in my area. The charge $25 for half an hour of practicing on a miserable upright piano in a tiny room crowded with kids stuff in a "music school" in my area!

geez... $50 bucks an hour and you don't even get a private room or a decent piano? that's appalling.
