request for sheet music...
on: December 25, 2015, 08:00:24 AM
Hi everybody, I hope this is the right place to ask - I'm looking for sheet music to Ravel's La Parade.

For free, of course  :)

I'd love some help with that.
Thank you so much!
Amit.

Polite notice - This is an advice forum not a beg forum. You have created an account offering nothing, asking for everything, I suggest you pay for it or look yourself.

And as it's likely to be in copyright, you wouldn't want to be encouraging people here to go breaking the law...

It's very likely that you can't get that legally. It's probably under copyright.

"La parade" was written in 1896, but not published during Ravel's lifetime, meaning not before 1937.

As a general guideline in the US, anything published after 1923 is likely to be still in copyright.  (There are some exceptions - some things published before 1923 are still in copyright, and some things after 1923 are not.) Other countries' rules differ somewhat, and the copyright usually lasts 50 or 70 years after the death of the author. (In France it's more than 70 years for musical works.)

Without knowing when "La parade" was published, we can't determine when the copyright expires.

Here's a bit of info:
https://www.maurice-ravel.net/parade.htm

Here's some info on the copyright laws in the US - https://www.unc.edu/~unclng/public-d.htm

And more globally - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain#Expiration_of_copyright

You can sometimes find scores online which are still in copyright. But that's illegal, and no one on a public list (like this) is likely to assist you in that.
