Moonlight Sonata mvmt 1 art experience
on: March 09, 2016, 08:47:04 AM
an older recording ripped off a vid from a ways back along with some graphic art I've been working on...

can't ever seem to embed these YT vids and it's not quite finished yet but I would like your opinion.   I will be showing something like this when I play my next concert

Regarding the images, i liked them very much.  Very appropos.  But they change too often.  They go too fast.  I would hold each image a little longer and change very slowly.  Much more slower.  I like your playing.  It has that forward movement despite the slow tempo.  Get that middle c-sharp fixed!

i dig.  i like the imagery, however, in my mind, the pictures I see/saw when you perform and in my own in the past is a little different on my end (i worked up the whole shibang /all three movements for an important mid music school jury that determined after two years if I would be allowed to continue in the program, a sort of rite of passage for all piano majors at my old spot).
I  believe your playing suits the mood you couple this with in imagery.
My personal take is more like that  of a late afternoon rain shower with partial sun trying to poke through but not quite before clouds take over again and grey wins the fight (of course not before any sunny/yellow gets a few good hits in). I can see how you play this also fitting that picture as well. you give it enough fwd energy as birba said, so many people play this way too slow, it's not a funeral dirge...
Anyhoot would love to hear you play the 2nd movement (wish more people generally would take a stab at it, it was the hardest movement for me and although i received high marks on all, my lowest and most critique was for that little middle minuet, it's my favorite part of the sonata actually, don't care much for the boisterous 3rd movement, i nailed it but i didn't enjoy it nearly as much as movement 2 followed by mov 1).

cool viddy thanks for sharing, i've been behind on visiting the audition board so lots of catching up to do.

wow Birba thanks! :)  I will slow it down... I was just really excited to finally have enough slides to make something.  So I ripped the audio from my old MS 1 vid, and slapped it up here.  some of the slides are out of order and a few got deleted.. I am trying to animate it a little bit -- make the moon rise and the stars all twinkle-y.  I will be playing a concert of light classical piano, and showing these slideshows at the cultural arts center I teach at.

 8) it was like 3am... now I am looking at this going "did I, dcstudio, just put up a vid of MS 1 on PS?"   what was I thinking?    yes... that piano sure looked great.  that recording is 7 or 8 years old now...  I don't play that piano anymore, thankfully--and that was not it's only issue...or mine at that time ;D  my kung fu is way stronger these days!

thanks Visitor...  and I have plenty of time left to use up in this vid so maybe I will make it rain, too.   wow, I am so excited you guys commented on this :) thanks!!!!  I agree about the 2d mvmt.. I played it all in college, too... didn't quite nail that 3rd mvmt though--not at University anyway.

  I like your playing.

for anyone who didn't think I was neurotic... this seriously made my day!

Birba likes my playing... ;D ;D ;D ;D

and thank you for honest feedback--I have NO ego about art.. please tell me what you don't like too--you will not hurt my feelings... all my self-doubt is tied up in the piano!
