Soft repetoir partner to Rach 2
on: March 16, 2016, 09:23:50 PM
Hi All! Im on my 3rd year of studying in Denmark being advised to study Rachmaninov 2nd piano concerto. Now on to my question. I am looking for something to go with that; obviously less virtuosic for days I might be tired of all the difficult challenges which surely awaits in Rach 2.

Schubert would be a good suggestion but i played his 4 impromtus op 90 already and al his sonatas seems looooooooooooooooong.

So all you knowledgeable collegues, who can help me? :)

You could play some other Rachmaninoff. Op. 3 is a lovely set, as is Op. 16. He also has some lesser known works that are lovely. He has a couple nocturnes if I recall, and the preludes ofc are the bread and butter for pianists who aren't quite up to playing the truly demanding stuff.

interestingly, this looks a lot like my archive scan i scanned myself a couple years ago, i wonder if it somehow made its way to the uploader (i utilized an overhead bookeye scanner with black and white high res conversion that gives my scans very very similar look in the way it shows up, no big,  great piece, glad its uploaded like this so others can enjoy/view and discover it )

Thanks for the replies, but I´ve realised that studying Rach 2 keeps me busy for my entire practice day :)

Glad you enjoyed the video! If you ever have any requests for other works I'd happily upload. It was a fantastic scan so if you have any others to the same standard I'd happily give them a go too.

With regards to something to go along with Rach 2, perhaps some Vierne would do.
