Chopin Etudes : Janina Fialkowska
on: April 27, 2016, 11:58:29 PM

Has anyone else heard these wonderful interpretations? They're honestly some of the best I've ever heard. I only had a chance to listen to Op 10, no. 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8. The 10/8 was absolutely fantastic.

Thanks for sharing these. I didn't get a chance to listen to Op. 25 yet, but the first set was beautiful.
No. 3 was absolutely amazing. You should give that one a listen! On nice headphones it feels like your brain is getting a massage, if that makes any sense. :)

I admit I have never heard of this pianist before. She plays so humbly and emotionally.

I'm really grateful that you introduced me to this pianist.

10/1 has a strange 'swing' to it.  The 16ths are not even at all to my ear, but it is late at night and sometimes my ear when I am tired gets hypersensitive.

Anyone else hear what I am hearing?
Chopin Ballades
Chopin Scherzos 2 and 3
Mephisto Waltz 1
Beethoven Piano Concerto 3
Schumann Concerto Am
Ginastera Piano Sonata
L'isle Joyeuse
Feux d'Artifice
Prokofiev Sonata Dm

In the description, it says that she occasionally, on purpose, I think, rushes up the sixteenths notes, shortening the bar. Maybe that's what you're hearing. I do agree, that one was a little weird, but not unenjoyable.

I enjoyed the ones that I have heard so far. I especially liked op 25 no 12. She definitely has her style of playing.
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know about this artist.
She is a student of Rubinstein as I read on her homepage.

I really enjoyed listening to these, especially her 10/7 and 8.

I don't want to hijack your topic, but another living pianist who has a fantastic recording (live in one sitting!) that I enjoy of these etudes is Vyacheslav Gryaznov:
