Chopin studied with Wilhelm Würfel after Zwyny
Hmmmm......I have a folio of Chopin's nocturnes that says this (in the little biographical blurb at the beginning of the book), and I quote:
"At a very tender age, he studied piano with Zwyny. By the age of twelve, he outgrew his teacher, and from then on, all his development in piano playing was without the aid of a teacher."
Although it does go on to say:
"When he was fourteen, after having composed for about six years, he started studying composition with Joseph Elsner."
No mention of Wilhelm Würfel. Perhaps he, like Elsner, taught Chopin in areas other than piano? I know these little blurbs don't always tell the whole truth sometimes, but I can't imagine that it would come right out and say something that wasn't true. I'm hardly any sort of expert on Chopin, I'm just going by what it says in the book.
Peace,
Bri
