Audition Repertoire help?
on: June 30, 2017, 10:01:49 PM

I'm entering a competition where I need to submit two contrasting works on an audio recording.  I have already decided on the first movement of Schubert's D.784 sonata.

I am deciding between Rzewski's Winnsoboro Cottonmill Blues or Bach's Fantasia and Fugue in a minor, BWV 904 as the other piece.  I've talked to my teachers and mentors, and they are split evenly between the two pieces, based on my live and recorded performances.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

If you're still working on Prok's op 2 no 1 (as I see in your signature) I think that could be an awesome pick.
If not, I think you should pick the one you like better. Playing a piece you like can make a huge difference (BTW, the Schubert movement is a very nice pick).
