I was curious whether anyone would step in for any of the three threads where this occurred. It's a good thing that I'm not a self-teaching relative novice or generally new. Somebody writes in asking about headphones, and mentions which piano is being used in case that is pertinent for the headphones. The piano is a Kawai CA97, which is known to be a top of the line hybrid piano. Advice comes in to buy a Williams piano. And everyone is ok with that? Or maybe you all figure I know better so nothing need be said.
I had heard of Williams because in one of the two forums recently a student was having problems, was asked what piano he played, and when he said it was a Williams, the responded said "Get rid of that piano. It has spring action." What I have been able to find about Williams is that they all seem to be digital, and that they are relatively inexpensive. I found one review on one of its models, with an emphasized "stay away" followed by a litany of problems and faults. I was not able to find anything positive in reviews and especially not at the serious level. It might actually be useful for anyone else if there is more information on this piano, in terms of playing it, experiences with it and so forth.
So basically a student writes in asking about headphones, and seems to be advised to purchase a digital piano that seems not to be anywhere near the quality piano that student already has. I was just surprised at the silence.
