Thal must be otherwise occupied right now, perhaps scoring at his local emporium or maybe scanning scores of other much lesser known early 19th century Romantic piano concertos elsewhere; in his absence, I can only say that, whilst I would not go as far as some of the sentiments expressed above, this concerto strikes me in the main as one of its composer's dullest works and I've never understood why so many pianists continue to perform it so frequently - for example, I yield to no one in my admiration for Martha Argerich but if she ever plays it yet again I will want to scream!...
