master audition program suggestions?
on: November 12, 2020, 12:06:10 PM
Hi! I am a relatively inexperienced piano student since I am majoring in a music-irrelevent field in a undergraduate school, and I am preparing for an audition for master programs in conservatories. I'd like to ask you all's opinion on my audition repertoire:

Bach partita no.1
Mozart k.310/Beethoven walstein
Chopin Barcarolle/Fantasie
Chopin etude 10.2/25.6
Chaconne Gubadulina

How does this program look to you all? according to my teacher I am very musical but lack some extent of technical security. Also I have very small hands. I am especially indecisive between Beethoven and Mozart sonata since I find Mozart technically easier and more mentally comfortable to play but the transparency of it demands really exquisite touch and I am not sure I have what it takes to play it well.  Also I was wondering if the barcarolle would be a safe choice? How am I supped to know if I possess the musical maturity the piece calls for?

I like the Beethoven Walstein more than the Mozart Sonata but that’s just my opinion.
