ATCL Duration missing by a few mins
on: April 26, 2021, 05:17:12 AM
Hi everyone! Preparing for my ATCL next month and my repertoire consists of the following pieces -

1. Beethoven - Sonata in C minor Op. 10 No. 1;
2. Schumann - Noveletten in F Major Op. 21;
3. Chopin - Impromptu No. 3 in Gb Major;
4. Liszt - Liebestraum in Ab Major;
5. Poulenc - Piano Suite in C Major

My performance time is about 30 mins, (no repeats played anywhere, as directed by Trinity) but the performance criteria says 32 mins. Will I be penalised for it? Is there something I can do without really having to change the pieces since there is not much time left?

From Trinity's page on syllabus infringements, one of which is "Programme too short":

Quote
Depending on the severity of the infringement, marks may be deducted, or, in extreme cases, the exam may be invalidated.

I would guess that being two minutes short of 32 minutes wouldn't invalidate the exam, but you would certainly lose a few marks - no idea how many.

As far as I know, omitting repeats isn't completely forbidden - check the regulations.

Can't you add one three minute piece?
