Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. After his recital we got the chance talking to Tenici about his Wagner/Liszt project. Read more

reader software for iCloud folder
on: April 30, 2021, 04:21:25 PM
Hello,
I have my sheet music stored in an iCloud folder on my ipadPro.
Playing by selecting from that folder isn't easy because scrolling is rather difficult.
In most, if not all, music reader apps you have to import sheet music before you can use it.
That's a rather time consuming action.
So I'm looking for a reader that lets you browse music or create a setlist directly from the filesystem.
Does anyone know if such an app exists?
Many thanks,
Luc.

I am not aware of any such apps, but isn't it possible to bulk import many files at once in some of the existing ones? I use a windows computer which has a tablet mode for my digital sheet music and the program I use has the ability to import in bulk.

I use MobileSheets but as far as I know it doesn't run on iPad, just android and Windows.  I use it on a Kindle Fire.

Most people I know on an iPad use forscore.  Actual music reader programs are much better than trying to scroll through a PDF.  I have mine set up so one finger tap turns the page, or i can set it to turn the top half of a page while I'm still playing the bottom - incredibly useful, eliminates the page turn problem completely. I can edit, add markings, set repeats and DS's, etc.

Forscore will run you about $20 and is well worth it.  And it will automatically catalog all those pieces you have stored in a folder, and you can sort them into setlists.  I have a gig in two weeks and all the rehearsal music is on the Kindle; one click brings up the list for that event.  (that's on MobileSheets though, I'm not sure how to do it in Forscore but i know it's possible.)

MobileSheets is the one I use as well! It's pretty good. I found that I still prefer physical books, but for the times I don't have or don't want to carry my scores with me, having it all accessible on my laptop is great.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
