I haven't played the piece, so I'm not sure if I'm entitled to an opinion... but for what it's worth: I would certainly try to play all the notes as written to begin with. But I doubt it would be worth it trying to iron out a perfect 5vs6 rhythmic subdivision.
I think it's good if one is able to hear the subdivision of the beat if one listens for it, even if it's that's not what most listeners will do. If you decide from the start to just 'wiggle your fingers however much you can', you risk ending up with something too thin or vague.
