Typical Modulations in Hungarian Rhapsodies?

What are some of the standard key/mode progressions that really exemplify Liszt's hungarian rhapsody writing?  If you wanted to get that sort of harmonic universe generally, do you write in the dominant (harmonic minor it looks like, usually?) and then transition to the Hungarian minor?  Or do you start in the Hungarian?

What about the little 'chromatic'-ish embellishments?  How do you usually center them relative to the mode you're currently in?

Don't have an extra hundred hours lying around; does that sound like an easy or efficient endeavor to you?  Even if I did exactly what you say, it wouldn't really answer any of my questions.
