Chopin b-minor prelude
on: March 28, 2022, 01:15:06 PM
I am stumbling my way through this lovely piece and was wondering about the pedalling.
When the main theme is going in the bass, I keep the pedal down for two bars at a time. Bars 6-8 and 15-21, I seem to do a lot of furious pressing and releasing.
Am I overdoing it?

How much are you pushing the pedal down? It may (or may not) be that you're pushing it down too much.

There's a lot of magic that can be done with the pedal. Experiment with pressing it down much less deeply, and change it more often than once every two bars.
