Hello

Just wanted to know your opinion on the difficulty of Liszt concerto no. 2, compared to Rach no. 2 of Tchaikovsky no. 1 for example

I know there is already a lot of discussion about the difficulty of concerti but if you could still answer… thanks

Hello, arpeggio.

In my opinion, Rachmaninoff 2nd is the easiest of them.

Liszt 2nd has some tricky spots but overall it's not too scary, but in Tchaikovsky's 1st the piano is exposed all the time and there is nothing to hide behind.

So, it's very individual but all in all I would say:
- Tchaikovsky
- Liszt
- Rachmaninoff
(from the hardest to easier)

Best regards,
Dino

I agree with Dino's assessment. Rach 2 sounds bigger and more difficult than it is. Liszt is overall usually quite pianistic, though he does have his stuff that's really, really hard. Tchaikovsky has some very exposed spots.
