What tempo speed would you expect for Mozart Sonata 300k in f major, for levels 7 thru 10?  assuming it's a level test or perhaps a recital.

I know it's tempo marked at 152.  I'm guessing you wouldn't expect a level 7 player to be able to do that.
so roughly, what tempo would you expect for level 7, 8, 9, 10 and ARCT?

This is just my opinion but if the performance tempo is out of reach it’s probably better to pick a different piece. That being said, I do think there is room for flexibility as far as tempo is concerned so as long as you can make it sound good, play at the tempo that is comfortable for you (though you probably should aim for something like the “correct” performance tempo).

Considering there isn’t one single “metronome” indication in any work of Mozart that comes directly from the composer, it is best to take the ones that are provided as suggestions. Even then, those suggestions are based upon perhaps one person’s opinion and/or skill level. If the tempo is unreasonable, simply slow your performance down to a point where there is sufficient clarity and control. Music isn’t a race, so set your own speed limit as opposed to trying to reproduce a faster tempo from a recording and taking that as the benchmark.

Well, it's not weight lifting or running track, but.... for that particular piece, I think it's hard to maintain the correct character if you go much slower than that. Also, as a side note, if I were thinking metronomically, I'd set the metronome at 50 or 51 and count one beat to the measure. Thinking of it as 152 for quarter notes will make you tense and ruin the flow and phrasing. So I would not suggest this piece for an audition if the student cannot do it at pretty close to that tempo (as klavierronin said).

If you excuse the obvious digital keyboard sound (sounds very similar to my old Yamaha) I think this tempo is aight, and seems slightly slower than 152?

Lelle, I think you're right. Your tempo is just a bit under 144 to the quarter, and it sounds fine. Not what I'd call much slower than 152, but it might be enough of a difference to take the edge of stress off for a student.
