Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no 2
on: November 10, 2023, 11:00:25 PM
I'm currently 13 and absolutely love Rachmaninoff's second concerto. There's a local concerto contest where you can play a concerto with a symphony orchestra if you get 1st place in your division. I'm probably RCM lvl 10 (I don't do theory so I'm not sure of my actual level), currently practicing L'isle Joyeuse for my next recital (just finished sight reading). I want to try the second movement but not sure how difficult it is (both technically and musically). Would it be worth taking a look at/attempting? Thank you for your time :)

at 13 years old you study l'isle joyeuse but you don't study theory? What other piece you played? you cannot just do the second movement of this concerto at a competition.

I've played pieces such as fantasie impromptu, revolutionary etude (op 10 no 12), clair de lune, etc. recently
When I say I don't do theory, I mean I only know the basics (clefs, key sig, circle of fifths, rhythms, etc.) enough to be able to play just by looking at the sheet music but not enough to pass the theory portion of most piano exams at my level
