Etude 10 dedicated to Alistair and T. Hinton
on: January 09, 2024, 10:53:03 PM
Dear Alistair,

Recently it came to my attention that the 10th etude composed by Marc-Andre Hamelin in 1990 "After Chopin",  is dedicated to Alistair and T. Hinton. Might that be you?

If so, would you mind elaborating a little on how this came to be - of course without revealing personal or other intricate information?
I can have wild guesses: you live in Canada, you gave Marc tips to improve his technique ...
Is there a reason that specifically this one has been dedicated to you e.g. because the Sorabji Archive advocates Chopin studies?

Relieve me from my speculative "Wanderer - drang" and reveal the truth or even better, as in great literature - for which you certainly have the linguistic capabilities to excel in might you consider a switch in your career one day -  compose an "histoire" so fantastic it is better than reality.

Kind Regards,
Gert
