How to Fix a Wooden Clicking Sound on an UPRIGHT Piano's Hammer Yourself.
on: March 16, 2024, 09:21:21 AM
Under 'the butt of the hammer' there is a small wood protrusion on which a small piece of fabric (the small felt RED cushion) is glued. Indeed was lose it because in this video clear hear the wood click which goes on between 'the jack of the wippen' with 'the butt of the hammer' there .
Tools you will need:
1 Phillips head screwdriver OR simple screwdriver
2 Toothbrush (optional)
Instructions:
1 Free the hammer of the upright piano from the upright piano's action. (Remove 'the strap bridle' from 'the bridle wire'.)
2 Unscrew the screw on 'the hammer butt' and remove the hammer from 'the upright piano action'.
3 If a piece of felt is missing or has come unglued from 'the hammer butt', glue it back on.
4 If the felt is glued on but is very hard, try to revive it using a regular toothbrush.
Tips:
Be careful not to damage 'the hammer of the upright piano or the piano action.
If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, consult a professional piano tuner.
