... one of the challenges is how to make the triads in the rh piano and legato over the melody in the LH which requires frequent or no pedal....

There are times when the sostenuto (middle) pedal is required.
I wonder if Prokofiev played the held notes and placed the sostenuto, then played the upper notes ... very very quickly. I don't think he held the sustaining pedal throughout the measure... that blur effect doesn't seem aligned with this precise, cubist, style.
