Has anyone played or listened to Medtner's shorter piano pieces?
What are your favorite?

I've listened to quite a few over the years, and am very impressed and charmed by many of them.

Some of my favorite are:
Op 26 no 1
Op 51 no 2 is a masterpiece, equal to anything of similar length by Rachmaninoff.

It's unfortunate for Medtner that he lived at the same time as Rachmaninoff, who was all the public needed for that distinctive Russian voice.

Seems like you are familiar with his skazka!
His 8 Stimmungsbilder, Op. 1 (all 8!) and piano concertos (especially the first!) are very lovely.

My favorite from these would be

2 Fairy Tales (Skazki) (Две сказки; 2 Märchen), Op. 20 (1909)

Especially the 2nd one is dope in the hands of the right pianist.
