Conservatorium issues and worries
on: January 08, 2025, 08:55:13 PM
Hi, I'm a student pianist in my teenage years, going into senior this year (I'm in Australia, so our school holidays end at the 27th of January). I'm getting really worried that I do not have enough time in my hands to enter a conservatorium for two reasons. The first reason is that I only started playing piano about 3 years ago. This means that I have not much time to get good on the piano and be able to perform in the conservatorium audition well. The second reason is that I believe that there is such a large competition to get into a conservatory that I don't believe I would make the cut. I absolutely adore and love the piano though, and I want to make it my lifelong job and passion. But I don't believe I'll be able to get into a conservatory, and this could hinder my potential for piano. Is it too late for me to bother getting into one?
Also, the conservatories that I want to get into are either Krakow or Warsaw conservatories in Poland. I would love to hear from a student who auditioned and got into either of the previously mentioned conservatories.

You don't have to immediately get into a conservatoire at 19 or whatever age you'll be when high school ends. You could audition at 20 or 21, that gives you two more years. It also doesn't hurt to get some life experience, what work life looks like, etc, before picking your higher education.
