From a few years back.

I've used this material a few times but never had it written out, so I've always been actually improvising in terms of details and consequently the various versions I have recorded differ even down to actual structure.

Wrote this old recording out (approximately) yesterday as an improvisation for Christmas. For me, the Offenbach Barcarolle has a definite association with Christmas and New Year.

Anyway, nice familiar material to close a recital with, even if it's not a formalised setting like the Moszkowski transcription...

Nice piece! Do I understand you correctly that the original melody is by Offenbach and that you have made an improvisation around it?

Yes. It's a very free improvisation on the Barcarolle from the Tales of Hoffmann; a composed version would have been stricter in terms of one-to-one correspondence with the original. I've used the concept a few times for public performance whilst never having a formal version set in stone, so it means there's quite a lot of variability as to what I end up playing.
