Started age 15 then did music performance degrees up to age 26.  Then I stopped  for about 8 years to get a secure income in another career (which Im jacking in soon  :)).  Started December last year to study seriously again ( I have a full recital this September).  Im now 34.

About seven years, since I was 16-17....

A VERY late age to start if you want to be a profesional pianist, and believe me, I am feeling the full effects of it now that Im at the Reina Sofia.
For a good laugh, check out my posts in the audition room, and tell me exactly how terrible they are :)

super good? Ummm....I think that is for someone else to decide. I see where I have a long way to go. MT, Koji, Robert, and Paul Wee are real good in my opinion.

I practice as much as possible. When I am not playing the piano. I play it in my head. None stop fun really.

I had never thought I would start to play a piano.... I was encouraged by my parents due to my obssession with computer..., after all, I found piano and music are splendid an d can be very insightful

My sister was luckier than me, she started at 6, at the same time when I began.... :P

Greetings

I started piano in 1958, took 4 or 5 years from my mother, quit, played on my own through high school and university, quit for 20 years, then started taking formal lessons for the first time in October 1997. Still going strong (working on Grade 10 RCM).

Cheers ;D

I, also began serious piano at five.,

After the somewhat common teen rebellion...I was back with it...and I am pretty old... :).
so...about 61 years.......(minus the wasted years and the attempts to fight it...etc...) net value?  heaven knows,,,maybe 35+ years, really serious as a teacher, but only about 5 as an actual performer... :P

Played in a school concert when I was 7 (made it up as I went along) but that doesn't count because parents wouldn't buy me a piano till I was 12  :(, so to date 19 years, bit of a break in the middle to have my family but now going back to it more seriously than before  :)

I'm 15 years old, and I've been practicing for 3 years.
Started April 2002.
A year after, then it's go time! My 1st difficult piece- the Dr. Gradus ad Parnassum in the Children's Corner Book by Debussy- took me 2 months to learn this, then Schubert's Impromptu in G-flat Op.90, no.3, another 2 months, then 5 more in preparation for the national competition 11 months after that, I was able to make it to the finals, but I didn't win any position though.
Sometime after, just 3 months ago, I won 2nd place in the UP (University of the Philippines) piano competition, and I was the youngest in Category B (13-17 years old). And now, I've been playing some notoriously diffucult pieces, like Chopin's Etude 10/1, and 25/6, 'Military' Polonaise, Beethoven Sonata #9 (14/1)(But this one isn't so hard), Bach WTC1 #1(And this one too). After that are another group of pieces, around 4 of them, all Chopin, all very difficult.
I just wish it isn't any of these: Barcarolle in F#Major Op.60, Sonata Op.35, Polonaise Op.44, 61.

I've been playing for 5 years and I am now 14.  For the first three years I had a really sucky teacher, which at the end of the three years I played better than her.  Then I played at childrens museum and this director asked me to join a tuition free conservatory the following year.  At the actual audition, I played one piece and he said immediately that I was in.  By the way, this is at IUPUI, so I also enrolled in private lessons.  Last year, I had a Canadian teacher who went to rice university, but he had to leave because of his one year visa to work in the US.  This last school year, my teacher is a Venesuelan that went to Julliard.  Ill be working with him next year as well.  At this conservatory, Ive met my best friend, who is a lizst freak, and hot girls 2 or 3 years older than me(I guess it pays to play well) ;D :D ;D ;)
You need more than a piano, two hands and a brain to play music.  You also need hot sauce.
