Petrof upright, but, if I pass my exam here at the conservatory, my parents will look for a used grand.

Schimmel upright. Any idea how to check the model number? My parents got me the piano when i was young enough not to bother much with the piano.

Baldwin 6' 3" or 6' 6", can't remember which they make.  It's a wonderful piano.  I'd use it for concerts if I had a trusted mover.

rhapsodyinorange, I think you can find your model number if you open the top lid.  Look for a little brass plate at the top of the pin block.

Fandrich & Sons 6'1" satin ebony grand, Yamaha U1 upright in polished ebony, Yamaha Clavinova 970.

Would you mind elaborating on the Fandrich?

I own a F222 Irmler built in either 2004 or late 2003.  I love it.  The recording does not do it justice, but you can hear it in the Auditions part of pianoforum, look for Schumann-Godowsky.

Currently shopping--going to New York in two weeks.  Liking the Steinway Bs and Mason and Hamlin BBs so far.  Just sold my Yamaha GH1B.  What an awful instrument!  I really suffered with that thing--used it for grad school.  Impossible tuning problems, nasty, awful sound.  Complaints from people I accompanied, criticism from friends.  Cringing from the piano tech.  Skin crawled during slow passages in the middle register.  Avoid GH1Bs  if you possibly can.  I'm happier with no piano than when I had that.  I'm embarrased even to share with you all that I had it.

I have a Kawai CP 200 5'3" digital baby grand, that  is the best digital piano that I have played (I have played Roland, Korg, Yamaha), but I think that the acoustic one is much better! I want to buy a very expensive  >:(  Yamaha Disklavier DGC1A, derivated from C1,  so I can play also in the night without disturbance!

I wonder how many of those "Other" votes would go into Baldwin and Kimball and Samick and Young Chang should these options be explicitly available. ;)

It's just funny that there are explicit options for obscure brands like Ibach and Sauter and Pleyel but no explicit option for the known high-volume brands like Baldwin, Kimball, Young Chang, and Samick.

At my home in the U.S., where I live now, I have a Yamaha Clavinova CLP 110... The one that I have in Brazil, is a very good Brazilian piano, Essenfelder. It is a 10 year old, oversized (concert) upright piano.

a grand Yamaha...I don't know what brand it is, but it only has two pedals (that's all you need lol) and it's probably the best piano I've ever played on. It sounds better than my teacher's Steinway.

Did you know that Sviatoslav Richter prefered to playing on Yamahas over any other instrument?

I agree that missing makers make this not work out very well,

The majority group is still the "other"... :) :)

What about Pearl River Consortium and the many "others" from Samick?

1915 175cm Mason & Risch grand. My great uncle bought it when he came to Canada, and taught hundreds of students on it, including myself. He died in 1988 (I was his last student), and willed the piano to me... it was pretty beat. I had it fully restored for a lot of money, but it is now priceless... at least to me.

I have played many fine pianos, but haven't found one to equal my M&R; but then we have grown to know and love each other. It is so much more than just an instrument. It has a beautiful cabinet and ornate carving, but it could be made out of plywood and it would be just as special.

Yeah... but did you know that many people like to listen to most other pianists more than Richter?

(OK, just a joke... I admit I'm not a Richter fan, but I like many of Yamaha's pianos just fine. ;) )

Awww that's beautiful - how much was it? I've got a Yamaha YUS (see below - could only afford an upright i'm afraid!) but very fond of Kawais too.
