I have a new one  ;D

2 piano sonatas from VERY famous composers share the same Opus number and are at the same key.
Moreover, one is said to have been inspired by the other.

Who are the composers?

I searched my pdf collection for sonatas :)

And the winner is....Kassaa !!!  :D :D

By the way, altough not comparable to Beethoven's Hammerklavier, the Mendelssohn one is nice and under-listened.
I have a Benjamin Frith version ot it (Naxos).

Hehe.

Actually I didn't know it was the Grieg Concerto and that it was true. I though the story was so crazy it was probably a myth.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I should put forward a new question. But since I don't even have one it doesn't matter. Ill try to think of a nice one.

According to an often-repeated story, possibly apocryphal, 'Composer X' died when a bookshelf collapsed on him in his home — apparently as he reached for a volume of the Talmud, which he had placed on the highest shelf, in the position closest to Heaven.

Its unsure if this is true.  I guess we need to track down the source of this story to judge how likely this story is to be true.

Maybe it is more true than Beethoven kissing young Liszt on the forehead. Maybe not :)
