Chopin Ballades

Almost the same poll as my previous one  Expect this one is about the Ballades instead of the Scherzi 

Anyway, I luv the 2nd and 4th Ballade, but if I have to choose of them I'd pick the 4th

definitely 4.  I used to love the 1st

but MY GOD is it overplayed.

1st- way overplayed yet beautiful

2nd- used to be a little bit underrated, but one of my top two

3rd- also amazing but not fit to my taste as much as other 3 (although this sounds stupid  )

4th- on my top at this moment, usually considered as most challenging but i think very natural to play it

I love the third Ballade when it changes into C sharp minor, it's so awesome@

I agree, number 1 is quite overplayed but its got a great melody!

All Ballades are tragic except #3.

Ballad N°1 is the lover's ballad
Ballad N°2 is the bomb's ballad
Ballad N°3 is the young couple's ballad
Ballad N°4 is the hardest ballad

1st overplayed (even i learn it at this moment) very beautiful
2nd very different of 2 sections between choral part and storming part and a great difficult coda
3rd very beautiful too. also overplayed in my country the most strange ballade in all 4 in my movement.
4th very beautiful and difficult i would like to try once

The ballades have always been on roughly equal footing in my list of preferences (not so the scherzi or impromptus, of which Chopin also wrote four each (counting the Fantasie-Impromptu as an impromptu) - preference lists there running 4-3-2-1 and 3-2-FI-1 respectively); if pressed, I'd probably name the F major as my favourite, and while I do like the G minor, the fact that it is the most overplayed of the four by a wide margin probably pushes it to the bottom of the list.  The A-flat major and F minor are probably more or less even between the two.

4 is hard and good. 1 is (once again) overplayed.
