Not appropriate topic
on: June 14, 2005, 02:59:47 PM
I don't know about you all but I don't feel that the topic of sexuality/orientation is an appropriate place for this forum (whether I agree or disagree), there are more appropriate forums for this matter. We already have three topics about this here and I would much rather read about music or other interesting facts. I wouldn't want this to become a 'dating' forum.Let me know how you all feel about this...not trying to upset anyone :)

Its not that it is offensive material. It is that it is offensive material *to you*. We arent discussing any concepts regarding intercourse itself, nor are we rellarying personals. I can tell your a pretty conservative guy, which i understand so im not going to give you a hard time about what you believe in. But i feel we (those who dont feel the same way you do) deserve the same respect on that same level from you. The "anything but piano" forum is the ONLY forum with topics on this matter (aside from teacher/student situation in teaching threads and perhaps a discussion on male/female capacities etc). The sex/music ratio on this forum seriously looks like 1/100000...

I dont believe this forum in anyway is morphing into some 'dating' forum, no one is getting sweet with anyone on more than a friendly and humorous level...unless there are people who have actually hooked up, but if this is so, then they did/are doing a great job of keeping it under wrap...anyways...

look..i only have two more things to say...

1.) i feel if you stop turning your nose up to any sort of post, sexually inclined, drug abuse, homosexuality, religious, and other "contraversial" posts..you will benefit from it, as "repulsive" as these discussions may be...maybe you should stop reading the underlinings of the matter..and take it as an opportunity to view a topic from a new perspective, this never hurts...this is my motto anyway

2.) i love you

Well, this is called the anything goes forum after all.

There is no reason why you have to read those posts anyway.
If these threads were showing up elsewhere like the student section, then I would also voice my concern, but that is not the case at all.

I have been on this forum for awhile now and I know there are a great number of teenagers who surf here. I for one am glad young people are open to discuss these subjects. It will help them understand and get  better, different and worse opinions and attitudes they never dreamed off and at the same time strengthening their own belief on the subject with a much more defined ideal base on a much wider range of arguments.

This is a good thing.

Why do you think sexuality is appropriate on PF? I mean, this board is called the Non Piano Board  :-X Doesn't that mean that sexuality is also okay as a topic? Just wondering..  :-X

I just feel that some things are way off topic and as I said some threads are taking the tone of finding someone to have sex with. Also the word "desparate" comes to mind from one of the treads. I actually don't mind talking about sex, but not if people are searcnig for people...like a matchmaking/dating type service. You know what I mean...at least not here. ;) This type of stuff is found everywhere and is getting old

see...this isnt an issue..or a matter that needs to be dealt with or brought to our attention..this is simply and SOLELY..a manifestation of YOUR OWN opinion..which is perfectly fine and dandy..voice yourself and represent what you feel is "right,"..but please..lets not judge people for you know nothing of them..of us..of me..we are a collection of alias's, ideas, conversations and social lubricance..nothing on this forum is a direct reflection of someone's supreme being..nor is it an exact reflection of their dispositional virtues and vices...

to summarize..your opinion is great, and im gladyou spoke up about how you view this forum and its attributes...but your opinion on the forum and your judgement on people dont synergetically amalgamate so smoothly...once again..i appreciate your concern..but your judgement lacks education and patience...

I'm sorry if it seems that way to you but I have never judged anyone here or elsewhere. I am just making some suggestions. :)
