I am not sure when it will be released, I'm guessing a couple months. The last DVD he recorded with the Miami International Piano Festival took about four months to be released, so take that for what its worth. If you don't have this DVD you definatley should buy it. He only plays three songs but its worth it. The songs are:Saint-Saëns: Étude en forme de valse (I think this is better than the La Roque performance)Schubert/arr. Strauss: Kuppelwieser-WaltzerChopin/arr. Godowsky: Ignis Fatuus -(based on Chopin’s Chromatic Etude Op. 10, No. 2)I agree with you stevie about the La Roque d'Antheron DVD, I watch that on a daily basis. It cost me $200 just to watch it. I had to buy a region free DVD player and import the DVD to the US. However, I dont regret paying that much for it. Not to mention I bought the Berezovsky one shortly after.Songs? That's funny, my version doesn't have any lyrics!
P.S. Has anybody ever heard Severin von Eckardstein play before. I recently attended a recital of his and was blown away. In particular I was really impressed with his last encore which was Rzewski's Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues. I mean come on, playing with you elbow! I was just wondering what everyone else thought about him.
Hey guys, just an update:Libetta's concert in Miami FL has been rescheduled (originally he was going to play half the Chopin-Godowsky etudes on Mon Feb 6 and the other half on Fri Feb 10):The date/time isn't set yet, but his concert is being rescheduled for sometime near the end of March. He plans on performing ALL the Chopin-Godowsky etudes in a single concert with an hour break in between.Count me in.

O my god , that will drive me crazy, sounds too boring.
I'll be there.
I called down to the Miami Piano festival, and spoke with his direct contact who told me that he would be performing at the end of May. I guess he's coming to Carnagie hall first, then flying down to Miami do perform the Godowsky. I'm definitly going.
I have emailed Libetta in the past and he's always gotten back to me. So this time i wrote to him asking about the festival. He did write back to me (took about a week). he is definitly doing the chopin/godowsky in Milano, and he is definitly playing in NYC in May. Here is a copy of his email to me...Of course I remember your mails about theStrauss/Risler!I didn't corfirm the Chopin/Godowsky Etudes for the Miami InternationalPiano Festival; but I'll play them in Milano on March 5 and 26 - afteryears, this time seems to be the right moment to videorecord them.On May 23 I'll play in New York, but I can't say now the program yet. Asolo recital, anyway.Regards,Francesco
I e-mailed him a couple months ago, pretty much just telling him how much I enjoyed his playing of some lesser known composers and he e-mailed me back. He told me about a CD he was going to record, but I have no idea where to buy it or anything. I'll post his reply and see if anyone else has an idea.thank you very much for your mail.As you appreciate my playing of such a wide range of styles, you can be interested in something extravagant I'm recording with a private label. The title of the CD is:pastiches et melanges (as in Proust)There is some interesting pieces:- Casella imitating music by Wagner, Fauré, Brahms, Debussy, Strauss, Franck, d’Indy, Ravel;- Ravel imitating music by Borodine and Gounod- Clementi imitating music by Haydn, Mozart, etc.. and.. HIMSELF.Then, the most difficult part: I'll play some piano pieces, imitating great pianist - often in music they never played. For instance:Godowsky plays Brahms/Chopin, Studio Op. 25 n. 2De Pachmann plays Chopin, Studio Op. 25 n. 9Zecchi plays Schumann, Toccata Op. 11Sofronitzski plays Pizzetti, Poemetto Romantico (I-Appassionato)Paderewsky plays Schumann, Chopin, da Carnaval Op. 9Lhevinne plays Hanon, TremoloFriedman plays Pick-Mangiagalli, La danza di OlafLibetta plays Gesualdo, Madrigale (!!!)Cortot plays Balakirev, Islamey (just first part)Best regards,Francesco LibettaSo does anybody have any idea as to where to find this CD because I need to have this. I don't want to keep e-mailing him because at one point we kept emailing each other for a couple weeks and I don't want to annoy him. He definatley seems like a great person though.
Carl Czerny: The Art of Finger Dexterity
Francesco Libetta Plays Mussorgsky & Balakirev,
I hope they will be some more of Balakirev not just Islamey but would be glad to hear his Islamey
The Moussorgsky is Pictures at an Exhibition and the Balakirev is a sonata, I don't think it will include Islamey, but I'm not exactly sure.
Mr. Libetta has joined dasdc.net. No kidding. You can direct your questions there if you wish.
