Rachmaninov - Prelude Op.23 No.5 in G minor
on: January 06, 2009, 01:00:52 AM
Ok, I promised a few years ago, somewhere on this board, that I'd post a rec of me playing this prelude after I'd improved it.
The original thread is here:
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,12021.0.html
That recording has to be heard to believe how atrociously bad taste it is. I really do hate how I played it - I forbid anyone to play as badly as that! Sorabji had some sense in banning public performances!
So here's my new rec, seeing as I've had a nice xmas break to (re-?)learn it:

I'm going to try to record it again with better audio but it'll probably be a few months 'till I'm back at home (just started uni last term).
Thanks,
Tom

im shoving this peice into my brain at the moment also. I'd suggest to continue practicing, and bring out those dynamics prominantly. It's a swell improvement from the last session of yours.

You play the piece confidentally, overall. I suggest more variation in your dynamics, especially in the Un poco meno mosso. I enjoyed it.
