You obviously haven't been here a very long time. Ever since I can remember, pies has been at his usual annoying antics without any sort of let up. The same goes for a few other members (whom indutrial mentioned). There is just no point in trusting them. And besides, it's the internet. You shouldn't trust anyone anyways, most especially on a public forum.

Well anyways, with that out of the way, let's say we get back to the original topic? What living composer have you had enough of and would like to see the end of?

I agree that I haven't been here long enough, but been here long enough to *know* some members that are *real* and *kind* though.   ;)  Have a great day by the way!

best wishes,

well if they ruin broth (even though there are 10 of them) than they must not be to good  ;)

Retrou seems to be the only one that's annoyed by my posts.  Everyone else probably couldn't care less.

I was annoyed but I decided not to say anything because I decided Retrou would do a better job at telling you off  ;D

Well, it is mostly innocuous, but it adds up over time. I can handle a joke or two, but you stepped over the line with that Rzewski comment. If that wouldn't have happened, I probably wouldn't care. But that Rzewski comment was unexcusable. You don't joke with the mention of a person's life. You just don't. It's incredibly tasteless and would warrant a tempban elsewhere.

Well, when you put it that way it sounds bad. It's more like "which composer we've had enough of" rather than "let's kill this composer now".

I reiterate (because you appear not to have been listening) that I have suggested no such thing, even if only because it is not my place to do so; that kind of thing is up to Nils.

I'm not really fed up with Pies. The problems I've addressed are all long-term. At least the occasional shenanigan or shitpost is a fart in the wind in the face of some of the epic psychosis that this forum has suffered in the past. To this day, one of those folks I mentioned above is still up to the same tired horseshit. Scroll down to the first few pages of comments in the following Youtube video (
) and anyone who's been here a while will know what I'm talking about.

That being said, this thread is really tasteless. I wouldn't want to find myself in the position of having talked/joked about someone dying in a genre where most of the talked-about composers could very well kick the bucket any day. I wouldn't feel guilty (I'm certain that I'm not any sort of sorcerer), but it would definitely feel a little dirty.

To kill anyone, you have yourself to be alive in the first place; you may not care for Medtner's music as some of us here do, but your attitude towards him does you no favours at all.

Kapustin IS jazz, just listen to it
To determine (insofar as it can be determined at all) whether or to what extent any of Kapustin's music is jazz, one has first to define jazz and then account for how those particular works fall within the scope of such a definition; that is by no means as easy as you might assume. That Kapustin is conscious of and has arguably been influenced at times by certain minds of what we may call jazz may be the case, but there is undoubtedly more to his music than just that, just as is the case with Ravel.

For the dubious benefit of "scarabin", I am a composer. I am not an academic. The Medtner remark may have been a joke to him/her but I see little evidence of anyone laughing. Kapustin's music is what its listeners may want it to be, I guess; my point was and is that, whatever the connections with jazz that some of it may have, there is much more to Kapustin than that.

If the above is a "page long", you must have very short pages...

He doesn't write like a nerd.  He writes like a man with a beard.
For the benefit (if any) of those here who might care to know (if any), would you care to elucidate as to how it is that the writings of people with beards differ from those of people who do not? Also, do you consider that certain characteristics of people's writings change when they either acquire or shave off beards as a direct consequence of such acquisition or disposal and, if so in either or both cases, would you care to provide some illustrative examples?

A fascinating topic, to be sure; at least it gets away from that of murdering composers...
