In the case of Cage its hard to put pieces into categories like that. Id have to say its a miniature though... if I had to choose.

(Bernhard, I find it really annoying that I always get the last clue that I need along with your post.) :-p

;D

4'33'' ?

(worth a try...)

I have to confess... I went to look it up, and except for "A Room" the only work I found that fits the above description was ' 4'33" '.

Bernhard - we think too much alike.

A great progam filler if you know what I mean. Im sorry ayahav, but Bernhard gets it again.

Bernhard, when was the work composed?

We will see...

In any case, one of the guidelines fo the game was that the piece and composer should not be completley obscure, and apart form 4'33'' everything else that Cage wrote is pretty obscure...

And I guess it will sound exactly the same in a normal piano or in a prepared piano...

Unless Ahmedito knows somtehing that we don't. ;)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

You need to type faster, ayahav! ;D

The work was composed in 1827 (second half).

Er... ???

I will give you a little help...

Schubert wrote 8 Impromptus, 4 D899 (or op. 90) and 4 D935 (or op. 142).

It is one of those, but not the Gb major (D899 no. 3)

Ok, the Klavierstuecke are also Impromptus, but I don't think he wrote them in 1827. Ok, lets' go with "Rosamunde", if only I could remember what Impromptu that is...D935, but which one...

I agree.

What is the piece's period (baroque/classical/romantic/modern/contemporary)?

My personal opinion that it is at the height of the romantic period.

(but you must remember that the romantic period stretches over different times in different areas of the world.)

Chopin's F minor concert, op. 21, composed first, but actually published as his second concerto.

Bernhard, you got to play a little bit, tease here and there, divert, confuse, not go straight for the goal!

We got to make this game a bit more challenging! I'd say, let's include forgotten and less known composers and works. That way, we would probably all learn a great deal.

WELL DONE BERNHARD!!!

you seem to be the only one who paid attention to the hint in the beginning... I chose this one because it's a big part of  my extended essay (kind of like a mini-dissertation [4000 words] i have to write on a topic of my choice, and I chose "Polish Influences in the Music of Chopin")...

anyway... What era are we talking about.?

I forget nothing 8)

Interesting subject. Are you taking it from the point of view of folk music? Or cultural influences?

Anyway, I am thinking Baroque music.
