Riddle Game 4 and up
on: July 24, 2004, 08:45:41 PM
okay, lets just keep this thread going, instead of startind a new one every round.

Original rules by Ahmedito:
-------------------------------
This thread is for the RIDDLE GAME. Someone thinks of a piano composition, then everyone posts questions until someone guesses the exact piece. Whoever guesses starts a new one.
Please use your common sense and keep it guessable. You can do solo piano or pieces where the piano is VERY important in chamber music or piano concertos... Only mainstream repertoire (that means no wierd ass little known modern composers, no wierd ass little known old composers and not one out of hundreds of pieces in a cycle (like Scarlatti sonatas or Grieg lyric pieces) unless its a well known work.  Only one question per post please.

ACTIVE RIDDLER:
Tash

PAST RIDDLERS:
Ahmedito (Sonata n.27 op. 90 in e minor)
RondoAllaTony (Piano sonata No.62 in Eb, Hob.XVI:52 )
amanfang (Dumka, Op 59 )
donjuan (March from 'The love for three oranges')

BANNED QUESTIONS:
Whats the name of the work? (obvious)
Who composed it? (way too easy)
Questions dont have to necesarily be yes or no, except when they refer to the composer or the title of the piece.
-----------------------------------
ok ladies and gentlemen, start guessing.

Let me guess, is Liszt the composer?    ;)

NO, Liszt is not the composer.  (this forum knows me too well) I am not going to make it that easy.
but, it is still pretty easy.

It is not a banned question - it was a yes or no question referring to the composer.  What musical time period is the composer from?

I just realized it wasnt banned, so I removed it from my post.  Sorry about that :)

The time period is 20th century.

If you read the rules, you will see the only compositions allowed are piano solos or chamber music where the piano is VERY important.  I chose a piano piece, but it has been arranged for various duets, trios, etc..

RIDDLE GAME 5

ok i'm thinking of a work by a 20th century composer.

Clue: the piece involves more than just a piano

tis not scriabin and was not born in 1906 (ie.not shostakovich!) think born in the 1880's. he's not primarily a piano composer, more orchestral. hmm maybe i thought this was easy but then again i'm obsessed with his music...
